The Nature of Maternal Link

Our Vision is to be the best provider of community midwifery services based on birth-centres to the NHS.

Our Mission is to design, develop and manage midwifery-led care in the community for home births and at birth centres on behalf of the NHS on a Social Enterprise franchised basis for the benefit of patients, midwives and the NHS.

We aim to provide mothers-to-be with as stress-free a birthing experience as possible by giving them personal advice and support, and to provide them with a place to give birth naturally, within the funds available from the NHS.

Our Goal is to develop a national network of birth centres by operating a franchise model. Each birth centre is to be its own financial, legal and regulatory entity.

Our Values are to provide a high quality midwifery-led proactive and holistic approach to maternity care based on professionalism, respect, communication of useful information and responsiveness to individual client needs and values.

We aim to provide mothers-to-be with a midwife who offers advice and help when needed in the most appropriate way based on their understanding of their individual needs. This entails working in partnership with the client and providing them with the information they need to make informed decisions. Advice and support is based on the best scientific evidence available; with the safety of the client and their baby of paramount importance. This demands that the client’s requirements are identified in advance and met appropriately at the right time. In turn this requires cooperation, coordination and flexibility within the midwifery team and across organisational boundaries to meet these requirements and to make the best use of the resources available.

Our Unique Advantage is our Social Enterprise franchise model, which provides the structure, procedures and technology that enable us to provide these services to a consistently high standard and thereby to obtain and retain the commitment and motivation of midwives in carrying out their valued work.
